Very few commercials actually make me want to buy a product, and often times a commercial will annoy me so that I don't buy the product. Kinda similar to when people put political bumper stickers on their car - and the driver with a bumper sticker endorsing someone cuts me off (or just sucks at driving one way or another); makes me feel like if that's the type of person endorsing that political view point, then I don't want to vote the same way as that person.
It's my understanding that those annoying commercials aren't necessarily supposed to make you buy a product. They are supposed to make you remember the product or brand. The GoDaddy commercials come to mind, along with FreeCreditReport.com and the newer Burger King ones.
Oh, don't get me started. :-) The FreeCreditReport.com and Burger King "King" commercials are excellent examples, kenta. I will literally change the channel to avoid them. The latest trend that gets to me is a store portraying it's own customers as idiots. Staples "WOW! THAT'S A LOW PRICE!" comes to mind. All of these may make me remember the brand, but only so I can make sure I go somewhere else to spend my money.
what's wrong with the freecreditreport.com commercials? I think they're catchy and effective - they make you remember the website. The reason I hate them though is that these guys aren't exactly free. When you register with them, you have to sign up for their monitoring service. If you don't cancel they'll charge your credit card. Unaware people get this site mixed up with the government's authorized site: annualcreditreport.com
