This weekend, I watched The Day the Earth Stood Still and even though the movie was pretty crappy, I think the message was correct. The message being, humans won't care about the environment unless it directly starts to affect them. Change won't occur for a majority of people until we see the oceans rise at our nearby beaches. And to the people who are already actively caring about the planet, they are just ahead of the curve.
yes, that was a crappy movie. the tough thing about getting people to be pro-active in caring for the earth is; it's so convenient to neglect it, and the effects won't happen until unforeseeably in the future. and really the only way that we've come as far as we have in terms of our behaving green is b/c of the way the government punishes those who don't behave green.
