Is lip stick/lip gloss/ lip balm a good thing to wear?

I hate lip gloss and don't know what everyone else thinks!

In my mind, i've always associated lip stick with old people TRYING to look pretty

it can be a good thing if it countains some sort of sun protection! Unless it's a good thing to get burnt lips or lip cancer!!!

what's wrong with lip balm or lip gloss? Only a certain age group can wear lip stick or else it looks creepy if you're too old or slutty if you're too young but I don't see why freshening up your lips or keeping them from getting dry is a bad thing.
