Do you give money to the homeless?

I NEVER GIVE MONEY TO THE HOMELESS. Give them an old jacket when it's cold. Give them some food maybe but if you give them a dollar you are contributing to the problem.

I think one of the reason why the homeless become homeless, among other reasons (poor parents, war trauma, etc), is bad spending habits. They prefer to spend it on booze and cigarettes rather than saving it up for food. Even when they save it up for food, they buy luxurious and less economical food such as buying a 4 dollar big mac as oppose to 2 McDoubles which is twice as cheap but the same amount of food.

The only way to help the homeless is to provide food for them or teach them how to spend their money wisely.

In fact I think those homeless standing near the freeway with a sign actually makes more than minimum wage.

I think beggars should be fined for running a business on the side of the road or at least should pay taxes (for their business).

You see a stray cat and you think, "I'll be nice, get me some heaven points and give it some tuna, it must be hungry." A week later, after feeding it everyday, that cat's gonna come to meowing and scratching at your door for food. By now, it's kind of annoying, but it keeps coming to your door. How do you get it to stop? STOP GIVING IT FREE SH*T.

By giving panhandlers money/food/etc, you're enabling them to panhandle more. There are plenty of homeless services provided by YOUR TAX MONEY. Panhandlers just want more.

I don't give money to panhandlers, but many, many years ago, I saw a homeless old lady sleeping on the sidewalk looking cold and miserable. She was not asking for money, but I felt compelled to give her a few dollars anyway.
