I would like to change my mind to Yes. I just caught myself referring it as an iTab during a conversation with my co-worker this morning. He gave me a blank stare and was like WTF you talking about? LOL!
Come to think of it, iPad sound like a type of Always maxi pads or something...."Introducing the best protection ever - Always iPad maxi with flexi wings! Now available in all Target Stores"
This is a great name in so much that it fits in with Apple's existing product line. iWork, iPod, iPhone, iPhoto, iLife....do you see the pattern? Simple common things we know and use everyday. The names are familiar to us. Sure "Pad" cannotes" the feminine product but pad is a better name than tablet.
umm, i think if it connotes the feminine product, then it's just the wrong name. If you have to pick a name that's just not quite as simple and common to avoid the association to feminine products, then it's worth it.
I wonder if Apple has trademarked every word in the dictionary plus the "i" in front of it. Maybe someone else beat them to iTablet or iNote and they got stuck with iPad.
