QUESTION:

Do you believe in "fate?"

I know it's broad, but it can apply to lots of things. It's a life philosophy that depending on how you answer it can explain so much about a person. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts in the comments.

I believe in fate (both good & bad). Fate is a force that cannot be reckoned. I believe that fate guides us to many paths. The choice of paths is ours to make but the outcome can only be revealed by fate.

Yes. It's a never ending cycle until you die: Fate > Choice > Path. That's what so incredible about life. No one's path is ever identical. There are endless possibilities.

kinda like the "choose your own adventure" books, except with those if i didn't like the outcome i could always just go back and restart.

So fate exists but not all the time? Because one would argue that the choices you choose is destined to happen.

I'm curious to know how it can "explain so much about a person." Isn't it just something you believe in, like the tooth fairy, santa clause, or god?

"So much" might have been a little too strong. But for me it can give me some hints about the person. I think people who believe in fate (in terms of love) have a more romanticized outlook on love and relationships. I think people who believe in fate generally tend to be people who believe (in terms of causation) that "things happen to them" instead of "them making things happen."

I believe in God and Santa Claus, but not the Tooth Fairy - come on now, the Tooth Fairy is just a load of crap! Almost as much crap as believing in fate.

I used to believe in fate. But as I get older, I am feeling that you create your own fate. Can't keep on thinking things will work out on their own. That's my perception now.
