QUESTION:
Can good friends become good lovers?
I'm currently watching a new hong kong drama called "cupid stupid" and it's basically what's happening in the beginning. The guy and the girl have been really good friends all their lives and one is starting or has always liked the other one but is afraid that expressing it will destroy the friendship.

Absolutely.... Good lovers are usually good friends too.

But what if you don't know how the other person feels about you. Would taking that first step and realizing the other person don't feel the same way alter what was already something good into something bad?

it could, and it couldn't. it depends how far things go. if you flirt and it isn't reciprocated then I think it's alright to continue on as friends. If you kiss them or something else more, then it could.

great question... i think if things are going to happen, they are going to happen naturally. And people can take "baby steps" like a few hugs that are suspiciously longer than normal, "friendly" hand/arm holding.... and see where it goes. I think the Step of saying... "I THINK YOU SHOULD KNOW I LOVE YOU" might be awkward

I'm dating my good friend... yes I am afraid that it will end our friendship if it ends badly but it was a risk I was willing to take :)

Does friends w/benefits ever work? Or does that ultimately just ruin a friendship?

from my experience, it ruins a friendship because 1 person eventaully becomes attached and starts having feelings for the other

I think the inverse is more challenging. Much harder for good lovers to become good friends than vice versa, in my opinion.
