I've always felt that the government had the power to control the employment problem but they just don't feel like it either because it's not in its(politicians) best interest.
I do not feel it is out of control. It's at what 10-12%? And during good economic times it's maybe 5-8%.
The people who get laid off/cut from the team are just not needed right now. Sure they probably have mortgages to pay and kids to feed, but that's how it goes.
If you are unemployed, pull yourself up, learn a new job skill, create value for someone, or start a new business maybe.
Employment is not guaranteed by government, nor should it be.
I am unemployed myself, so trust me I'm right there in the trenches.
Why can't the government guarantee employment for all? It seems much more productive to have people working to create value than to have them panhandle.
@stergeron: 5-8% vs. 10-12% That seems like a rather huge difference to me. Not to mention, anyone can manipulate the unemployment rate numbers up to 20% of the workforce depending on how you look at who's unemployed.
agreed. I think it is definitely out of control. I have tried almost every connection that I know but my contacts are telling me they're in a hiring freeze. I am getting spoiled with doing what I want, making up small jobs, and taking up new things.. I'm going to not like when I am confided to a desk..
