Did it raise more money for Haiti than it cost to make? If so, it was not a fail.

I agree with you that it still helped raise money. I guess what I meant was should have it been remade? With all the new additions to make it current, I don't think the song has as much power as the original. It would have been cool to have the current artists create a new song for this generation, if that makes sense.

i think it was a major fail! 1.) you don't remake a classic 2.) it did help raise money but every artist who was involved is rich why couldn't they just donate more money. Cuz the song sucks!

They had their hearts in the right place, no doubt there. But the song sounded like a big clusterf*ck to me. We Are the World was such a classic and they made it sound like one of those free songs you get with your new computer.

In the article Jay-Z had said it best, "I think it's time for us to make a new [song]," Jay-Z said. "I tried to do that with 'Stranded,' [the tune Jay Z, Rihanna and U2's Bono and The Edge premiered at the 'Hope for Haiti Now' telethon]. I didn't try to make 'We Are the World,' but I tried to make our take on how we felt."
