There's been times where I thought about never returning the book actually. I also thought about just telling them I lost it so that I could keep it and then just pay the price of the book. Why? Well this was before the internet happened and so looking for a certain book in a haystack would be indeed hard. Anyways, I ended up returning it...

I heard the library police will hunt you down..so better cough up the fines! I'm only kidding about the police but I have heard that the lost of library book actually goes on your permanent record. Is that true?

I hope not! I've been scared to re-apply for a library card because of that. Back in 4th grade, a friend of mine used my libary card to borrow this Madonna book and never returned it. I constantly got notices from the public library for months. I always made it a routine to check the mailbox before my mom did so my mom never knew about it. The fine accumulated to like $300 after a couple years and this was back in the early 1990's. They finally gave up on the notices but I feel that it will somehow come back to me some day. *sigh*

Yes, I actually have 5 of them that i need to return since March 2009. The bill is ridiculous but they waved all of the overdue fees and just told me to bring the books in. I think i owe now like $20. I totally forgot we had them. UGH.
