drug development is highly dependent on mouse/rat model testing. you wouldn't want an untested product to go into clinical trials on humans. but on the other hand, i feel that beauty product testing should definitely not be tested on animals.
I'm not sure the fail rate or the death rate of product testing on animals. But there should be laws that says if you kill 50% of your animal test subjects, you will get a large fine!
well in the sense of drug testing, the kill rate is 100%. the drug is administered to the animal to see where the drug is targetting. there are also VERY STRICT guidelines that are implemented so that animal welfare is considered
