QUESTION:

Did your parents ever try to pressure you into a certain profession (like a doctor or engineer or accountant)?

I know I failed my parents on this one, haha.

Saving face especially true with asian parents, lol. Maybe 51% face and 49% wanting the best for you.

Here's my theory, I think the more educated your parents are, the more likely they will pressure you into these things. I believe they feel that since they are lawyers or doctors that they would feel like horrible parents if their kids didn't make it into a good profession. Of course part of that is having face around other friends and families.

(And of course they knew the lawyers and doctors would get all the ladies.)

My parents grew up poor in a rural area. My dad works on cars and my mother stayed home. They eventually moved to a bigger city to provide more chances of success for us. All of us finished college. So you're theory doesn't support that.

I'm a victim. I dreamed to be an Architect but my mom said to be an Accountant. I listened to her....

I hoped you listened to her because Architect is current the worst degree to study under - You'd have to spend about 10 years studying under someone as an apprentice before you even actually get to do anything! And there's only so much stuff that we can dig up from under the Earth.
