QUESTION:

If someone offered you $3,326,975 today to become a vegan (no eggs, dairy, etc.) for the rest of your life, would you do it?

My brain and heart say yes, but my taste buds emphatically say NO.

I wish I could tell you it was a complex formula using algorithms and standard deviations...but I just made it up.

Was it a function of time or a function of dollars?

ironically $3,326,975 equals the exact dollar amount of utility lost over a lifetime of having to live a vegan lifestyle. this of course takes into account how my tastes will change over time, and changes in the food industry (very complex formulating involved).

F171615, when you said utilities, you mean utils right? Then that would make total sense!

Depends on how severe the consequence is for failing. It's too much money to say no to - though I already know there's no way I would succeed in maintaining my veganess for the rest of my life.

3 million isn't that much... For food lovers, you're pretty much cut yourself off from half of the food that you can actually eat.

Also, when you'll always be *that* guy who always answer with "no, we can't go to mcdonalds, because i can't eat meat" whenever your friends and family ask you to go out to eat.

You could always order a big mac, hold the meat. But that would really suck.

Then you'd be *that* other guy who just ordered a big mac without the meat. lol

3 mil is a lot in the sense that it would probably take me 150 years or so (taking into account inflation), to eat 3 mil dollars worth of food. (though i'm not sure if a vegan diet typically costs more than my current diet)
But yeah, is it worth 3 mil for that negative (in my opinion) daily impact in my life? And being either *that* first guy or *that* other guy really sucks.

@ theuglystick:
would you have to hold the "special sauce" too? you don't know what makes up that secret special sauce.

The special sauce has mayo which comes from dairy!!!

I guess so. And I'm not a bread expert, but isn't it likely they use eggs in the bread? If that's the case, you'd order a big mac - hold the meat, sauce, and bread....and you'd be left with some shredded lettuce and a couple of pickle slices.

"Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun"
strike: two all beef patties, special sauce, cheese, and possibly bun =
"lettuce, pickles, onions on a sesame seed."
that doesn't sound so desirable.

Could be worse - Fillet o' fish - you'd get nothing but the paper wrapper.

I can't put a price on food. A lot of foods are too good to give up.

That's like approximately less than $200/day based on my estimated life expectancy. And umm...it's so not worth it.

Now, if I were like 75 years old? I'd definitely go for it!

Most of my spending goes to food. It would be most difficult to live that lifestyle. I would certainly try an attempt to do it if that were an option. Most likely though...FAIL!

I think for that much money I would definitely become a vegan I'm sure there are plenty of good things you could still eat plus on the upside I would lose the weight I've been trying to lose, so rich and beautiful I would say that's worth giving up unhealthy foods thats are going to kill you anyway.
