Do you take a day off from work on your birthday?

I've never done it. Just never felt a reason to but a couple of my friends do it ALL the time.

I think Bosses should understand that people should get a day off if they wanted to. But of course it should count toward your vacation day.

one day from now, everyone will get my birthday as a day off - i have big dreams.
this excludes the times when my birthday is on a weekend - then everyone will get the following monday as a day off.

LOL, I never really understood why on national holidays that land on a weekend, you take the following weekday off.

Private companies in the U.S. typically choose to observe a set number of holidays every year. If that so happens to fall on a weekend, the holiday is still observed... obviously on Friday or Monday.

No, I wouldn't unless I was going on vacation somewhere for my birthday. However, my company gives us our birthdays off so no need to take a day :-)

I feel very lucky. The company I work for gives us our birthday off as a holiday; if it falls on a weekend, we can take either the Friday or Monday off.
