QUESTION:

Are you a good speller?

I cannot manage to spell my way out of 1st grade! Also one of my co-workers says due to spell check, his spelling has gotten worse. Just want to see if we have any spelling bee champions amongst ourselves.

Poor spelling shows the person lacked a proper foundation in school. That or the person is lazy. These are the same people who you see driving around with the gas cap still open on their cars while they drive away from the gas station. If they misspell difficult words is one thing, but if they are spelling common words incorrectly they should keep spell check on all the time.

Ouch! I'm definitely a horrible speller, but I'd consider myself above average in the smart department. I'm also not lazy enough to still have my gas cap open driving out of a gas station. I will make sure to keep my spell check on if I make anymore comments near JMcGill.

Good point. No one is perfect but one should try to check their own spelling.

Was not trying to offend you but that's how I see it. I didn't say poor spellers are not smart only a proper lack of foundation in school. Poor spelling is one of the considerations in any admissions essay test. If you spell things incorrectly all the time you are saying it does not matter. Maybe not to you but the school system says that. It shows laziness.

Driving around with the gas cap still on isn't lazy, they just forgot which is different. Unless you personally double triple check to see if the gas cap is still open.

I know how to spell but ever since spell check I found I didn't have to know how to spell correctly. I am the worst speller and blame it not on my education but on microsoft word.

"woosh," the sound of that comment going way over my head. the first sentence made sense to me (given the context), but that 2nd sentence still has me boggled.
2nd sentence: Gretzky is spelled wrong, don't know what he has to do w/sex, or why that relates to spelling well????
