QUESTION:
Should Mark McGwire be voted into the Hall of Fame?
He has now officially come out to say he was a steroid user while he played (quite refreshing to hear the truth), but he certainly isn't the only PED user who put up Hall of Fame numbers. There will undoubtedly be PED users voted into the Hall, if there aren't some already, but should Mark McGwire get in considering we know for sure that he did use?

I feel a user should not be allowed into the Hall in a perfect world, but baseball has not been living in the perfect world ever. I would feel terrible voting to give someone the highest reward possible in baseball knowing he achieved it while breaking the rules of the game - but how are we to judge who did and didn't break the rules? And if we don't know who broke the rules, how could we honestly vote for anyone? All I know is that based on his production he certainly belongs in the hall.

I don't know sports at all... but I always thought Halls of Fame are for heros... Although talented with great numbers, i don't see some dude crying because of his use of steroids a hero.

It's a shame, but I don't think we can look to many if any sports athletes as heroes.

I've made up my mind - I think he belongs, after all - the Hall is filled with known cheaters; from spitballers, to corked bat users, to amphetamine users etc. I can't then say the most prolific HR hitter doesn't belong b/c he cheated, he's no different than so many members of the Hall of Fame already.
