QUESTION:

Is there an alternative energy to our oil based economy?

Will all these alternative energies be able to cover our lifestyle as an Industrial Country when Oil runs out? Those such as Solar, WInd and Geothermal are alternatives.

Reminds me of the movie "The Day the Earth Stood Still" staring keanu reeve. Will take a huge disaster for humans to realize that we cannot depend on oil as our main source of energy?
