I saw Sanjay Gupta doing a story on CNN and donated $10 by text. One person can make an impact.

i agree... i gave money to red cross and doctors without boarders. I should give a lot more, but anything is better than nothing.

Did you give money to the Katrina victims? I'm purposely being a little cynical here because it shows how the media has swayed people's behavior. Sure people gave to people of Katrina but not with the unprecedented amount of support for Haiti. Coverage of Haiti has focused on what a true tragedy it has been. Katrina coverage (which has been documented) was mixed at best and focused on the failures of the government. I guess Americans are more ready to help others than ourselves, but maybe that's just human nature. I do notice the people who are more ready to help are those who usually don't even help themselves.

i know it could be seen as lame to compare the size of disasters, both are tragic. but the number of 50k dead in Haiti calls for more international attention. just my opinion.
