QUESTION:

Do you think people who use Ad.ly on Twitter are sellouts?

Tony Adam (SEO guy for BillShrink) was just called a shill:
twitter.com/tonyadam/status/11896652947

Some see in-stream advertising as the future and others think it's just plain selling out.

What do you think?

I'm fine with it as long as it's used in moderation. I'd also be very selective of who you tweet for. If I follow @tonyadam, I know I'm getting tweets about SEO, BillShrink, and maybe some random personal stuff. The ads should reflect this. If the ad sponsored tweets are relevant to SEO and stuff he already tweets about then I'd be more receptive. If the tweets are about random stuff and has zero relevance, then yes, he's selling out...sorta. But then again as the great JayZ says, "What you eat, don't make me $hit." So go get yo paper!

Use ad.ly to directly spam the same people who opt-in to follow you.

People who use twitter to follow celebrities want to know what the celebrities are doing. I don't think they signed up to get advertised.
